Discover a stunning landscape at the foot of Los Nevados on a full-day tour to Cocora Valley, a coffee farm and Salento. Follow trails through soaring wax palms, and listen for the sounds of tropical birds and wildlife as you hike into a mountainside cloud forest. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then follow the coffee production process from plant to cup on a local farm. Explore brightly painted architecture and a historic town square in the picture-perfect colonial town of Salento before returning to Pereira.
Itinerary
Day 1. Bogotá
After Breakfast at your hotel we start our tour with a ride on the world-famous Bogota cable car. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the city and surrounding nature as the cars climb 3160 meters to the peak of Cerro Monserrate (10,367 feet). We will then walk through the historical suburb of La Candelaria, with its old churches and cobblestoned streets, surrounded by colonial architecture, baroque churches, art deco houses, and street art. We will visit Plaza Bolivar and its stunning Cathedral. Night flight to Pereira and car transfer to Salento for overnight at centrally located hotel.
Day 2. Salento & Cocora Valley
After breakfast at the hotel you will visit the amazing Cocora Valley, inside Los Nevados National Natural Park home to the national tree and symbol of Colombia, the Quindío wax palm, these slender trees stand at an impressive 60 meters. In this 12 kilometers walk we will have a big chance of spotting the largest flying bird in the world, the Andean Condor as well as the Long Tailed Sylph Hummingbird and the Blue crowned Motmot . Lunch at local restaurant and drive back to Salento for overnight.
Day 3. Pijao, Buenavista, Coffee Finca
After breakfast we will visit Buenavista which is is known as ‘Ventana del Quindío’ (Window of Quindio) In this tour we will also visit Pijao, founded in 1902 inhabited by less than 50.000 people. We will enjoy their picturesque typical architecture of Coffee Region villages enhanced with beautiful squares, colorful houses, local restaurants and bars.We will Visit a small Coffee local farm, here you will learn all about the coffee process: from the seed to the cup at an authentic coffee farm that goes beyond tradition. After this experience we will drive you back to Salento for overmight. (B,L)
