Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival to Paramaribo

After arrival to the airport of Paramaribo in the Dutch Guyana, we will check in at our hotel in the city for relax and overnight. (No meals)

Day 2. Paramaribo city tour

Start the day by visiting Paramaribo’s center, full of unique wooden buildings. We visit Independence square, The Palm Garden, Waterfront and the famous Fort Zeelandia with great views. In the afternoon we cross Jules Wijdenbosch bridge to Commewijne region, where we visit the historical plantation Peperpot, followed by a boat tour on Suriname river to spot the Pink belly river dolphins. Back to the hotel for overnight.  (B,L)

Day 3. Paramaribo – French Guiana

Today we will drive to Albina, the border city of Suriname and French Guiana. After customs, we will continue our journey across the Marowijne river by pirogue (tent boat) to St. Laurent, French Guiana. After customs in French Guiana, we will visit the infamous transportation camp in St. Laurent. Later we will go to Cayenne for the city tour of this French heritage site. After the tour we will return to Kourou for overnight. (B)

Day 4. Iles du Salut

Today, we will go by Catamaran to Îles du Salut to visit The penal colony of Cayenne, commonly known as Devil’s Island (Île du Diable)  a famous prison opened in 1852  it was notorious for being used for internal exile of French political prisoners during  XIX and XX centuries.  We will visit two or three islands as we spend the whole day and we can enjoy a swim in the Atlantic Ocean. We will return with the sunset to Kourou for overnight.  (B) 

Day 5. Guiana Space Centre

After breakfast we go to the Space Center to enjoy a very interesting tour. The Space Center is a 700-sq. km site created in 1964 by the French Space Agency. This is a responsive and high-performance space center, which is among the best in the world. Almost 85% of all telecommunication satellites are launched here. There is a launch almost every 5 weeks!  After the visit we return back to Suriname. Afternoon arrival to Paramaribo for overnight.  (B)

Day 6. Jodensavanne - Redi Dotie Market

Today we will experience some more nature activities as well cultural sites. We will visit Jodensavanne,  the oldest Jewish settlement of South America along the highest point of the Suriname river. We will see remains of the Beracha ve Shalom (“Blessings and Peace”) Synagogue where the replica is in Paramaribo as well the graves yards of the Maroons and the Jews ( black and white people separated). In the afternoon we will visit the Amerindian village called Redi Dotie (red dirt village) and learn about their culture and lifestyle. We are back to Paramaribo in the late afternoon. (B,L) 

Day 7. Paramaribo – Georgetown

We fly to Georgetown, Guiana in the morning.   Following arrival, we will visit Guiana’s capital including Stabroek Market also called “Big Market”, St. George’s Cathedral (the tallest wooden church in the world) the National Museum, Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology, the famous, and very unique Guyanese, Sea Walls and many more popular and fascinating locations within Georgetown. As our tour guide takes you around the city you will see the old colonial architecture that is a part of the rich history of the city.   In late afternoon we will arrive to the hotel in Georgetown.  (B)

Day 8. Kaietur falls

According to the departure of the flight we leave the hotel and drive to Georgetown’s city airport. We check in for the flight. The flight to Kaietur falls takes 45 – 50 min. We will fly over Guyana’s pristine rainforest to Kaieteur Nature Park where the Kaieteur Falls are located. After landing we will have approximately two hours of time to explore the area and enjoy the amazing falls.  After sightseeing we return by flight to Georgetown. Balance of the day on your own. Overnight in Georgetown.  (B / Lunch snack during Kaietur visit)

Day 9. Georgetown – departure

Transfer to the airport. End of the tour. (B)
