Regions of Venezuela also experience a meteorological phenomenon called Catatumbo lightning, it only occurs at the mouth of the Catatumbo River where it meets Lake Maracaibo. Lightning repeatedly strikes the lake for 10 hours at a time, for up to 160 days a year.
